EMPATHIC DESIGN Research: Ideation Lab

My junior year (2018-2019), I conducted research under Maria Yang in the Ideation Lab, a lab that is part of MIT’s International Design Center.

I worked on conducting interviews and thematic analysis to learn more about how empathy is developed in the design process and how this empathy affects the outcome of a design.

The research is summarized in a paper that was accepted to the 2019 ASME IDETC/CIE conference in Design Theory and Methodology and is published in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Digital Collection. It can be viewed here (ISBN: 978-0-7918-5927-8).
